Defining the experience of a new way to travel.
This project, initiated at Huge after being approached by Hyperloop One, showcases a vision of how the experience of traveling through pods at 760mph could be supported and augmented by digital products.
Problem
Long-distance traveling is broken. The commercial flight experience has veered far from its days of glamour into a dreaded but necessary means to an end. Despite the speed of the in-air portion of a flight, the door-to-door journey passengers endure is inevitably slow, inefficient and cumbersome. Constraints of the airport model (an enormous space, usually far from the city center, required to serve multiple commercial and industrial purposes) have proven unwieldy to the modern traveler's desire for speed, convenience, and simplicity.
Experience Strategy & Design
Recognizing that users not only need a new means of transportation, but a guided experience for their entire journey, the design strategy focused on delivering a vision of how the integration of multiple transportation systems could yield to a much simpler and more unified experience of traveling.
Designing the end-to-end travel experience
Order a trip at your home, right now, and get out at your final address in Las Vegas just 50 minutes later. That was the vision behind this solution. Just tap where you want to go and the app finds the best way to get there by integrating with all required modes of transportation.
With Hyperloop and final mile transportation needs unified in a single app, one could take a spontaneous trip from LA to Vegas and it would very much feel like taking a ride to a different neighborhood in the same city.
Enjoy the ride. Everything is connected.
When it's time to take the Hyperloop ride, the app adapts to the context, connecting to the infotainment display and turning into a remote control for a more sophisticated interaction experience. The display provides information on the next steps of your trip and suggests curated content according to existing preferences from your streaming services, all while keeping in mind the remaining duration of your trip.
HyperPass subscription service
The HyperPass subscription gives users a set amount of trips per month, with Uber or Lyft rides included in the journey, for a cheaper price than the combined individual purchases. With long-distance travel being so fast with Hyperloop, a subscriber can take a job in San Francisco and continue living with her family in LA. The HyperPass helps create differentiated price points for various market segments.
